Ingredients

Each teaspoon contains psyllium (Plantago ovata) husk 1,945 mg, roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) flower 414 mg, licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) root 52 mg, inulin from chicory root (Cichorium intybus) 36 mg and clove (Syzygium aromaticum) flower bud 6 mg. Other ingredient: stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) leaf.

Directions

Adults 19 years and older: Take 1 teaspoon twice daily. For each gram of psyllium, take with 30 mL of liquid such as water, milk or fruit juice. Drink immediately and maintain adequate fluid intake. Effects are generally observed 12–24 hours after the first dose but may take 2–3 days. Take this product 2 hours before or after other medications. Avoid long-term use and consult a health care practitioner for use beyond 6 weeks.

Warnings

Take with at least a full glass of liquid; insufficient liquid may cause choking. Do not take if you have difficulty swallowing. Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms worsen, a laxative effect does not occur within 7 days, or chest pain, vomiting, difficulty swallowing or difficulty breathing occurs after use. Consult before use if you take prescription medication, acetaminophen, anticoagulants or medicines that inhibit intestinal movement, or if you have liver impairment or gastrointestinal symptoms. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a persistent sudden change in bowel habits, undiagnosed rectal bleeding, failure to defecate after another laxative, difficult-to-control diabetes, or the contraindicated conditions listed on the current Canadian label. Hypersensitivity, gas or bloating may occur; discontinue use and seek advice if an allergic reaction occurs.
