Used in herbal medicine as a stimulant laxative for short-term relief of occasional constipation and to promote bowel movement by direct action on the large intestine. Supports digestion. Dandelion is traditionally used as a diuretic, to increase bile flow and help digestive disturbances; burdock is traditionally used to help remove accumulated waste. Source of antioxidants.
Adults: Take 1 capsule 3 times daily with water and food. Take a few hours before or after medications or other health products. Allow 6–12 hours for the laxative effect.
Duration: Occasional use only. Consult a health-care practitioner before use beyond 7 days.
Warnings
Keep out of reach of children. Consult before use for asthma, thyroid or bleeding disorders, fecal impaction, abdominal symptoms, gastrointestinal lesions/ulcers, medication use or surgery. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding; with heart, blood-pressure, kidney, liver or gallbladder disorders, diabetes or edema; with certain antineoplastic, immunostimulant, diuretic, corticosteroid or licorice products; with bowel narrowing/blockage, atonic bowel, appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease, unexplained abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, severe dehydration or diarrhea; or with Asteraceae-family allergy.
Stop and seek immediate care for dizziness, confusion, muscle weakness/pain, abnormal heartbeat or breathing difficulty. Stop for liver symptoms or hypersensitivity. Reduce or stop for abdominal pain, cramps, spasms or diarrhea.
